There has been several hitches in the transplanting of the Forklift motor with weight and clearance issues etc.

And this is the "can motor" set-up from the donor forklift. Once tested to satisfaction the heavy frame will be surplussed out to save some 35KG of dead weight.

I am still at this, I had difficulties with building a suitable bandbrake on the rear axle and connecting same with the prototype Mancha Brakewheel and pedestal. I've now rebuilt the Band into a clasp band centre hung(like the Mancha original) but cable operated and squeezed together via small pulleys. I hope to put up some new photos possibly as soon as the middle of next week, other tracklaying efforts have taken my time so far this year.

This was the failed end-hung band before re-work. Worked only in Reverse with 20% effort in Forward travel.

New design brake fitted almost the same as the Mancha bandbrake except mine is on the axle-mounted drum, not the Motor shaft flywheel. Both are clasp centre hinged bands, my version differs in being actuated by a cable attached to a lever on the handwheel staff and spring released. The Mancha version directly closed the band by screw action.

Video of the Brake Test run today has been posted for those who are interested, it worked well considering I was laying across the chassis holding the camera and working the brake with my bung arm.

Just another Update, motor now assembled and painted, now have a mechanically working Controller built but yet to install the power button, brake button and reversing dp-dt sw from the donor Forklift though. Almost finished, Battery Charging receptacle to do and Wiring.
This is as about as close as I can do to building this without the actual measurements of individual parts, hence some variance.
The Brakewheel has a handgrip fitted in deference to my bung shoulder since the linkage is cable operated and not screw applied.

Thank you, been awhile since my last visit here. The Trammer is now 99% complete and running, less a few hiccups like too tight with clearances on the idler sprocket shaft. Just need to run the fake main cables and wire in the battery charging receptacle.
Power is two 12VDC 105A/H deepcycle running the 2HP motor.

Thanks NGunderground. There's a couple of things bothering me about it, the front couplerbox being 1" too wide and that will be a lot of work to correct for little visual reward. The other thing ws when I started building, I wasn't game to tackle the axle bearing Pedestal casting opting instead for the plate sideframes just like a model railroader would. That decision is a now a regret for me.

The 2HP forklift motor pulls a full load of clay in the highsider up the 1 in 14 grade without a problem, I wonder if it will do more but do not wish to overload the electrical system since replacement coils could be a problem, the forklift being New Zealand designed and built sometime in the 70's.
