so, today one of our local news stations came out to do a special on our whitcomb esb locomotive. we just got permission from the executive producer at wyou 22 and wbre 28 to use this and past interviews on our website. as soon as we render down video size we will post up these videos. pretty neat. heres a small story from their website:

Niice, at least some people care about our history in the area. I just liked the part where it says " we will even build our own mine if need be"

Very nice! For one, congratulations on incorporating Abandoned Mine Research and two, making sure that future generations will have some rich cultural history to look back on because of the dedication and perseverance of a few great individuals!

Yup, I would have to say congratulations Chris and Banks. This was a very good story that they did on you guys and it goes a long way into saying what you guys are doing and where you are planning to go in your Anthracite history and restoration. Commitment like this is what keeps this history alive for ever.

anyone can grab something out of a scrap yard throw some paint on it and put it in a museum. our goal is to get this stuff running so people can see, not in pictures and old videos, but first hand how these things operated. seeing it, touching it, and in some cases jumping on and driving it, we are going to provide a sense of what it was like by not just talking about how this equipment used to work, but how, thanks to amr, it still does work.

:D

Yeah, Chris just said it well... people can go to museums and read all the books they want, but how do you really know about something until you experience it? Thats what AMR is all about - the providing an Experience. Unfortunatly, for now, we have to stick to mine tours for the public underground experience, so we do what we must on the surface!

Think about how cool Colonial Williamsburg or Old Sturbridge Village are... The experience creates an interest and a learning experience like no other. Colonial Williamsburg's website even says right on the homepage "The best of the American Experience."
