These small core drills, how common were they and how hard are they to find these days/

I think it would be neat to restore one and punch a few holes. What was the typical working depth?

For us they are hard to find but for you they should be easier since you are in an area with more surface mining. All the mine sites I have been to the core drilling has been subcontracted out for decades. Quarries are the only place where I have seen a few but never really kept track where they were & which pit. Sorry, wish I could help you out more.

The one I posted a picture up of has a working depth of 250 ft with a 5hp motor & 500 ft with an eight hp motor. Many core drills can go to depths of 1,750ft so that is small in comparison.

Honostly I really dont see the small ones just the bigger ones. . . .you are looking for a small one correct ?

It would depend on what size the larger ones are? Some that could fit in a pick-up would be about the practical limit.

That small one weighs 1300 lbs & then they go up from there.
