Here is a interesting video on mine timbering I found on youtube. Takes place at the Orchard coal company in Goodspring,PA. It was neat watching some of you guys at the No. 9 Anthracite Heritage Festival doing this same thing.

That movie is a really good movie, and believe it or not it's still shown during anthracite new miner training classes.

That movie is really a two part movie. The first part was in Porter Tunnel. There is another movie out there thats just haulage in Anthracite mines and another for pre shift inspections. Of all the movies shown during new miner training these three and the one on the CSE scsr's are the best. The rest they have too show but don't pertain to anthracite.... never did and never will.

yeaaahhh... like that freakin ridiculous chemical hazards film....

...and our favorite, starring good 'ol tina hamburger.

I swear MSHA makes these films sooooo corny and cheesy so that you actually remember them / think about them / talk about them. (Apparently it's working.....)

not the anthracite ones made my the Independent Miners Association though...like the timbering one. those are good!

Sounds like the crap they make you watch in trucking school.
That was so long ago I don't remember most of it though.
I liked the gory stuff.
:D

Yeah I saw you guys there. I wanted to stay longer but had to leave a little early. I was going to ask you about what to expect in new miner training class. Was talking to Paul Wagner about it. I might be taking it in Sept. at Schuylkill Tech. center.

yeah, should have asked. It's not bad.... just a lot of watching corny safety videos, and then some of the cool vids like the timbering video from this post, and Paul talking about different things that can happen. most of it is sitting, watching and listening until you get into donning the training SCSRs. Thats a good thing to know how to do.... He handed out a few books on laws and rights and we went through a scenario book too.. " What would you do if..... " Not bad.
