You can's see it in the photos, but where the shaft is located is actually the pit. It's probably about 75 feet deep & there is a drag line in there. I tried to get a better shot of the shaft but it was hard with all of the trees. I'll go back in a few weeks when the leaves are gone.

so it appears they are through the breaker foundation! last time i was there a few years ago they were on the west side of the breaker working east through the foundation towards 901. wow, i remember that shaft being next to the breaker!

mike, in your latest photos, you can see the motor barn for the overhead electric locomotives. did you ever poke around down by that? you may find something interesting! :wink: thats wild how they stripped around that airshaft. thats not the one i was thinking of, that one used have a steel hood over it and had the remains of a concrete fan house next to it. ill try to dig up some pics.
