yea, that one is over a year old. its a huge chamber that opened up under the street. ive talked to osm about it. supposedly it was found by a sewer crew that had no flow out one of the pipes during a routine check. so they started opening man holes and they found this subsidence through that. funny cause nothing was supporting the road and cars were driving on it until then, wonder how long it was open for?

Wow, interesting. Is this subsidence still hidden under a street, or did it open up to surface?

theres somewhat of a hole, you cant really get too close its all fenced in. but its mostly subsurface. its a pretty big hole. there have been alot of subsidences in pittston in the past few years. like a real lot! and good ones too. there was the 2 on our site, the one where the front porch fell in and the huge sinkhole in the parking lot. and now this one. plus the one where half of the guys basement fell in. also all the smaller ones we didnt check out.

Thats on Mill Street, and i think Mill Street is the street thats already sagging majorly from a major subsidence yearsss ago. From what i remember you can stand on an end of the street and look down it and see how it dips down, levels off for a bit, then comes back up to normal street level again. Pretty wild.

I can imagine a sewer inspector going through a sewer system and seeing the system all of a sudden get pretty big..

I guess the other part to think of is where is all of the sewage going?? How big is the cavity underground?

i live in pittston that hole starts at mill street and ends by the baseball field
they said it looks like a big dome

they sent a guy down on a rope to see how big it it

my friends brother works for the sew company and his mom lives on the street
they dumped 15 load of concrete in there and don't know where it went

if you guys remember the 80's when they were back flushing the mines
all the pipe's running on the side of the street's well thats what they are going to do again

and this one happened 2 houses up from me
Image

also the road up the street in falling in they fixed it once they have a steal plate over it

anyone that lives in pittston better have subsidence insurace.... I usually mention Pittston as one of the worst areas in terms on subsidence in the valley in the mine tour.

Hopefully it will get them to buy subsidence insurance. How much does that run anyway?
