Miner Bond- I am still researching what is up there in rosendale, hopefully we can schedule a trip around the second to last week in july. I talked to a guy who had visited the mines in the spring, he said they are on private property but were not posted and the area was desserted, he told me to just follow the abandoned train tracks and you will start seeing openings everywhere! -Mike

CtMike,

Awesome man yeah I would love to check out the mines. I know that the last weekend in July is bad for me and also the 22nd of July is bad to. Let me know if sometime in August is good.

Thanks

I found the video from the chester old mine when me and marc went into the lower levels in 2004, and at the end of one tunnel there is spare tracks, spare ties, and extra spikes and ruble from the last blast the other tunnel ends with a rock fall that we did not try to get over but there was a steady stream of air coming from it, both tunnels are fully tracked, have air pipes bolted to the ties between the tracks and notches in the ties to let water trickle through, there was also a side tunnel that was walled over with rock. -Mike

Nice map CT Mike! When you guys went down to the lower levels, were you able to get to the "Old Tunnel"? I thought you guys only went down one level below the level we entered?

We were not able to find a way into the old tunnel from what the map calls tunnel 1. What the map also fails to show is that there are 2 parallel drifts at the level of tunnel 1 one with some really bad false floors but still very intact with tracks and artifacts. Tunnel 1 is over 100ft vertically from tunnel 2 so the old tunnel is probably well over 300 ft below tunnel 1. The portal to old tunnel is closed due to soil erosion but is still draining, It might have potential as a bat hibernaculum if it were reopened.
