anthracite coal was used to heat homes and generate electricity all over the northeast. initially anthracite mined in NE Pennsylvania, and later bituminous coal from further west, was transported via the "Anthracite" railroads (CNJ, LV, DL&W, Reading, D&H, NYO&W) to powerplants conveniently located along the railroads close to the demand for electrical power. here we’ll take a look at a few of these powerplants….
