The car shot has some serious telephoto compression.

Brutus is about the only large stripping shovel left. It would have been nice if the Spade could have been saved, but alas. She threw a bearing at the wrong time and place.

The Silver Spade lives on in Jeddos Marion 8700! When the Spades Gen Sets were being sold Jeddo bought some of the Generators as spares and are using them now. They actually have spare parts from a bunch of other draglines and shovels from all over the country. I think this might be the only 8700 still running and it is different from the rest of the 8700's that were built. It has a longer and higher boom than the others and beefer motors and gens because of the longer time they have to run to hoist and drag.

Comparing Shovels to Draglines is like comparing Anty and Bity.

The two are completely different beast.

But, we are hijacking a perfectly good thread.

Was looking for some help with a picture or two of some old mine cars. I am from Tennessee and a Board member of Windrock ATV Club. Our home riding area is called Windrock Park, formerly known as Coal Creek. We have already put on display a couple of the old mine cars that actually came off the property. We have found another one that was used on the incline track bringing coal down to the bottom of the mountain. I do not have photos as of yet of the site where we found it or all the parts that are laying around. Story goes, the old timers called it a 10 ton monitor. Our understanding is that when in use there were two of them connected with a cable and they full one would pull the empty back up the mountain. We believe that it had wooden sides. It is a bottom drop car that appears to be about 12 to 15 feet in length. Has anyone ever heard of or have pictures that may give is some idea as to what we have found? We are planning on restoring it for display at the parks general store along with the others. I will take some pictures of what we have already done and post them on here next week. Thanks for any help.
