Nice John we have not seen the battery one that has a diesel engine mounted on it.

ohio boys, first post, i figured it to be a mancha cause as far as i knew those were the only ones that had that cupped shape inverted step thing in the frame near the end. greensburg? so whats up with it, it appears there is an engine in the battery box, you can see what looks like a radiator in the first pic however you can still see the electric motor? gen set? whats the deal with this thing?


second post, that is a great photo! that could be an advertisement photo in a catalog!

the round controller meant it is permissible. although i dont think it is now. :lol:

The round controller does not mean it is permissable it is probably a Westinghouse style. There were many locomotives built with round type controllers.

yes, from what i read in this 1927 catalog, the round ones are permissible. i know they were built by several manufactures, and i think thats what makes them permissible. they are noticeably larger than a standard controller and i figure thats to seal it from outside air mixtures.

Wow.. Thats an interesting thing.. What did they have to cut it apart for maintenance or could they access the internals from the bottom? ..kinda like some doctors..
