Sounds like you'd fit right in with the boys here, David.
Welcome, and hope to see you at some of the events around NEPA sometime.

Hello Dave and welcome to IronMiners! We have explored the Brewster Mine as well as the Croton Magnetic Mine (satan caves) before it was sealed and its bat colony destroyed. However, our visits may have been more recent than yours if you grew up in the area. Please feel free to share your experiences. The water level had changed in both mines over the years so perhaps you discovered areas that were not accessible to us.

We've also visited the Tilly Foster Mine as well as a few smaller mines in the vicinity. We haven't built slideshows yet for these mines but many of our pictures are in the Iron and Hard Rock Photos section. Again, welcome Dave.

Mike

Hi My Name is Robert. I live in Carmel NY. I have been to some mines around here in the late 60's when they were still open. I Would like to learn more about mines and maybe go to some local ones. I am interested in the old gold mine in Newtown Ct. I have been there many times on my own no guide. Any information about that mine would be appreciated.

Robert
