Looking for info on a contractor that built part of the flood control for Meadow Brook in Scranton. The name is either C.O. Kinsey or C.D. Kinsey. They may or may not have been from our area. Time period is unknown but my guess would be 1900 to 1955.

BTW, urban spelunking in Scranton is interesting.

The Scranton public library has a booklet published by the Scranton redevelopemtn authority in the early 70's. Try there.... Off hand I know hurricane Diane in 55 destroyed most of the flats section of south side. I believe the work was done almost a decade after that happened. The booklet may be of help.

Thanks Tony, but Meadow Brook isn't in South Side, it's in Greenridge. The book you mentioned, do you know the title and is it in the reference section or stacks?

I cant remember the exact name of it. Just look under Scranton redevelopment authority ??? IDK ? I looked up Meadow brook and I now know which one it is. ( In Green Ridge) Chris and I were supposed to take a walk through it from the State school ( Dunmore end) , but we never went. Acording to published information part of the flow enters " abandoned mine workings ". According to the maps it may be a possibility. Just never got around to it though....

Well I can tell you first hand that it doesn't enter any mine workings, wasn't even expecting it. Cool looking tunnels although.
