Hello all, Dave Huffman here. I am from St. Joseph Illinois in East Central Illinois. I have been interested in mines & mining sinc the nid 60's. I had a great unclw who owned a coal mine near Petersburg IL. After serving in the Navy I worked underground near Silverton Colorado in the Sunnyside Mine for Standrd Metals. I worked on the main level track crew in the American tunnel haulage adit.
I love to talk mines & railroads. I volunteer at the Monticello Railway Muesum in Monticello IL. We just returned Southern Railway #401 to operation & I mainly work on her but we have to be willing to work on what ever need fixed .

Welcome aboard! Is the mine you worked in still in operation? You'll find train, plane, and mine buffs on here so you've come to the right place.

Dave,

Welcome aboard! A good portion of the group is Pa. Anthracite. There is a sprinkling of folks from all over.

And a couple of us who are from the Illinois Basin. So feel free to jump in. But be forewarned there is a running war between the Anty guys lead by Chris and Banks. And the Bitty guys lead by Pete. They like to make noise but are mostly harmless.

OVCC East is up and running. Should be expanding when the weather breaks. We should have some sort of competition amongst the railways.

Thanks for the warm welcome all!! The mine I worked at in Colorado has been closed for several years but I want to take my wife out there & show her where it was.
My plans for building a small mine railroad are for now just in the planning stage & looking for & buying track & rolling stock. We want to relocate in the next few years so I don't want to build something & then just have to rip it out.
Once again, thanks for the welcome, I am sure I can learn lot's here.

Dave Huffman

And a big welcome from the down-under tramway builder. I toured the Old Hundred and the Mayflower Mill up at Silverton.
