Looks to me like a drying room in a changehouse; that would be the basket the Miners hung their working clothes to dry out before the next shift and their day clothes while they're underground.

Scott,

Now I have an answer. The resolution is the key factor. It looks like from my little experiment the forum likes 100 dpi. Your photo was 300 dpi, therefore it appears 3x larger.
