For the record, RRRRRRR is not the official name for this preservation rail line. To date, we have no official name for it. I guess as it gets extended we'll come up with something.

However, I am HONORED that Chris came up with the name. Maybe one of the rail "contraptions" will have RRRRRRR as reporting marks or something.

As for the active locomotives, both are battery units that came from tunneling companies. The small one, which is a Model Type "J" - 1-1/2-ton unit, was built by Atlas Car and Equipment of Cleveland, Ohio in 1965. It was used only by the original owner to haul cars for brick lining in sewer tunnels. The other is a Greensburg Monitor 2.5-Ton unit, that was involved with several tunneling contracts, including hauling muck trains for a New York City Subway tunneling project. We believe this unit traveled across the country and was used on many jobs before it was retired by Traylor Brothers of Evansville, Indiana.

Our O/O/S cannibalized former trolley unit, was homebuilt by a fellow in Tamaqua, PA. As built, it was modeled after the Chicago Tunnel locomotives. Hopefully, in the future, we'll get some running gear together to make it operational.

ray is pretty good at coming up with history of old locomotives and such. i got some numbers for him, and he confirmed the original owners/operators of the 2 mine locomotives we currently own.

Ok, Chris...We'll keep the RRRRRRR as the official name. It will AKA the Saylorsburg Mining Co. - Tram line.

It's a buggar when one has 2 names that fit for their line, especially when you get fond of both and can't decide which one.
I want DRY CREEK MINING COY written on the side of my Mancha A when I get it painted. However as I only "mine" firewood it seems a bit odd so it looks like I'll be going with SILVERTHORNE FOREST TRAMWAY

Why no go with both? have one be an interchange with the other! that is what I did! I couldn't decide between Wisconsin Central (the original, not WC LTD) or Dewey, Chetum, & Howe Railway, so I made the main one the WC, and the short line that served a refinery the DC&H. The DC&H is a switching line, and the WC is the common carrier. When I get the time, I will post a picture of the layout. The buildings are off, but you can tell where the refinery/plastic pellet plant were. With DCC, I had fun running a mainline local around the board, and having to time the refinery switching, useing the main as a lead.

Ooops. I used the name from earlier in the thread. If you add another R maybe we'll change it. It would be nice for there to be an even number of Rs on each side of the logo. 8)
