I TOTALLY forgot to tell you aviation guys what I saw at Air Venture 2015!

Sure, it was cool seeing FiFi fly overhead, and see a Lancaster come in for a mock bombing run at the same height as the Dam Buster mission, but the highlight of my day was That's All, Brother!

That's All, Brother!
, C-47 42-92847, was the first aircraft into Normandy on D-Day, and she was found in a boneyard close to the grounds of Wittman Regional Airport, at a place called Basler Turbo Conversion, slated to be converted into a BT-67 Turboprop. They had no idea about her history, but someone traced her numbers through the years on a whim, and contacted the Commemorative Air Force, the owners of B-29 Fifi, the B-24 Diamond Lil, and other historical aircraft. They arranged to buy her, and I believe that they raised the money needed in time. Even after all the years and 16 civilian owners, her interior still has the seats for the paratroopers, and her camouflage is still there, albeit very faded. Her name is still readable on her nose.

I flew in FiFi this summer, in the cockpit. And the C-45. Was quite a day.

This is interesting. It's a good thing that they were able to buy her on time. She's definitely a very historic plane.
