the tipple at the lackawanna no. 190 slope.....aka the lackawanna mine tour, will be open to the public for the first time in many many years this season! this is the only tipple visible to the public on any mine tour. the tipple sat in a state of disrepair for many years and the county recently secured a grant to have it back open for this tour season. this is exciting news for the lackawanna mine tour and they have a private contractor working on it right now. we look forward to including this in our tours we run each year.

Great news to hear that they are finally restoring the tipple. It probably would be nice if someone went out there to get some pictures of the progress of the restoration.

It was on channel 16 news beginning of the week when Joe Snedeker was doing his Wham Cam thing. Looks like they are putting metal siding on it.

we were up at the 190 slope today and got a brief look in the tipple. long enough to take some pics at least! ill get them up tomorrow, however we did see they have a wanamie mine car, with the "wanamie topping", or extra plank on the top, in dump position. looks good there........ although soon its gonna need to be restored.......hmm.
