Hey all,

I just wanted to take a moment and introduce myself. My name is Chris. I recently moved up into Dickson city and I am from tobyhanna, Pa as well as a a farm in Neshanic Station, Nj. I am 23 years old and I work full time in a community corrctional faclity. I also serve in the Pa Army NG as a driver on the stryker reconissance vehicle. Believe it or not, it's just as comfortable as driving any decent SUV.

Anyhow, in recent times, I started to build up an interest in coal mining regarding the history as well as structures (or lack there of) that are still left behind today. I figured I would get involved in some way as I imagine I could use a new hobby in my spare time (I'm sure the g/f wouldn't mind it).

So thats about it, I hope to meet up and be able to explore places sometime so if anyone ever needs a partner, you can message me!

Thanks!

Chris

Hi Chris, I'm Shana and I'm a truck driver who, like you, developed an interest in mining history.
The guys here have been great with sharing their knowledge and letting me pitch in sometimes, but you gotta watch 'em.

;)

I have abit of training to do in the next two weeks with the Army but once I am back, I would really like to explore w/e is remotely safe and trouble free.

No worries about that. I wouldn't dare adventure into something that I have no business of being in.

As far as exploring above ground things, totally. Like I said, as long as there is not access issues, I am game!

Access issues? what do you drive a geo?

what signs?

just kidding. AMR does not support trespassing. Usually these old places aren't much of a problem though, in terms of access, with the right transportation. People (and police) are usually cool about it if you tell them you're just there to view or photograph the stuff there. Nick and I just had another successful encounter with the police the other night.... he ended up telling us where we might find more mining stuff in the woods!

You have jokes huh- I drive a 96 Jeep cherokee.

Maybe some of us could set up a day where we could check out some stuff?

I wish the cops at the Bethlehem Steel plant would be as nice as the ones you encounter. They wrote me up before I could even explain I wasn't looting.

Bethlehem, eh?

Talk to Mike Piersa if you want to see that place. He's working on saving all that they can for the museum. He's on the forum here.

Hello Chris,

Welcome here. Banks & Chris M know plenty about the Coal Mining Era of NEPA. And, lots of interesting photography also. Hope you enjoy it here . Take Care.

Sincerely
Keith
