so when we were done working on sat i had a second to fire off some photos of our rock tunnel. they are taken as you walk in and each one starts where the flash dissipates off to dark. right now it starts out in the skidmore and cuts through the mammoth bottom split, we are at the end hunting for the middle split with a long hole. cool thing is this was our project, we built this thing!

Image

banks named the drag bucket the dragonfly. the drag is named stimpy!
the banana tunnel is named that way cause well, its not perfect!

Image

this is the beginning, it is driven directly over a chute so as we fire we can drag the pile out and over and into the chute.

Image

Image

the plank over the sprags in the timber sets is to protect them from being hit and blown out by flying rocks from the shot going off. this would be bad as the set could fall over then.

Swimmies :? :?

Chris,

Glad you posted some pics. How far have you driven?

I would look like about 50 or 60 feet.

That's a nice little slusher drift yal got there. Do you guys use knee and shoulder braces in your timber? If you do then you don't need the extra board on your timber so long as you don't over load your holes. Although I suppose that would be a lot more wood to put in there if you don't use them... We used planks like those for holding the posts up while we put our caps up, (which we did out of the mucker bucket!). After our caps were up we'd crib the heck out of the back and tighten it all up with lots and lots of wedges. Is that a gardner-denver drill? Looks like one, those babies were good drills, I've used a leg just like that too, pain in the butt unless you're bolting.

Muck: noun, Old English word meaning animal waste, feces.

As in " Allister spent all afternoon mucking out the stable, where the draught horse are kept."

Hmmm perhaps the Banana Tunnel is due for a slideshow! When are you going to lay track and affix an ore car to it? :D Good drifting miners!

the banana tunnel isnt gonna get track as its the airway. we are starting on the gangway tunnel hopefully next week, thats where the track is going. and what are we gonna use to clean that out, a eimco 12b mucker, nice. its a cute little thing but powerful for its size! as for the slide show, i dont know how soon that will be happening, this was the first time we got pics down there in almost a year. gotta remember when we are there we are working so there really isnt time for pics, however some days we finish a bit early and if im lucky enough to not leave the camera at home ill fire some off for ya! the gangway ones are gonna be the good ones, especially once we get the large timber in through the bottom split.

"Nice!"
I'm always glad to see the progress from ya's.

Who spelled "banana" wrong in the tunnel?
At first, I thought that was a crack at me. Another one of my
"dignified" nicknames. Hee hee....
