Well it depends on where and what type of mine it is. Technology will be limited underground in a Anthracite mine though. Battery motors, jackleg drills, coal drills, drags, and conveyors are about the limits of technology around here.

Even a bitty mine ( bitumenous coal ) is very different than anything on the surface.

MSHA has several videos on line. Nothing specific on exploration and extraction, but some of the newer pieces have good mining shots

Dawn of a New Day - Continuous Haulage Safety* on the safety tab. Has a lot fo new Underground scenes.

The MSHA page start at:

http://www.msha.gov/Streaming/SafetyHealthClips.asp

Mike A is right, if you can give us some more detail, type of coal, state, current status of the mine, we may be able to offer more suggestions.

Yep they work every bit as good as our currently approved system, they track you within 200 feet which is your typical active section. And instead of looking at colored push pins on a map you can look at colored dots on a computer screen. And on the plus side the heister could bust balls anywhere inside.

oh oh oh but with the old system of push pins the only chance you have of hurting yourself is you could prick your precious little finger with the pin, with the new system you can actually blow yourself up, but its only a slight chance mike.... i think its a no-brainer :!:

Yeah but with the old system you run the risk of getting something fired at you from the shanty as soon as you get of the gunboat. But since they decided minimal risk is better than no risk some operators are not going to run the fans during the day since there will be minimal risk from a methane explosion as oposed tono risk if you run the fans.

No what will be priceless is when I'm like a human cannon blasting up the slope threw the air all the way from New Philly and land right on District 1's door step and tell them and I quote " YOU F%&^ked ME"
