yes, the frog is a standard no. 3 frog, and the points are close enough that it wont matter. today we got more sills to build the switch and then to continue the track further. had to get longer ones than the ones we have so it can accommodate the curve in the switch and to mount the switchstand to. also, we pulled the coal car off the old rail and pulled it across the yard with my truck and pulled it up on the new rail line. looks good over there. we are going to repaint it next weekend so ill get some pics up then. that was a sight to see old yella pulling a mine car around the yard on the grass. it didnt sink in anywhere near as bad as i thought it would. only the flanges sunk into the ground and made 2 nice grooves all around the yard  i guess the wide tread of mine wheels helped distribute the weight over the ground. unfortunately there are no pics or video of this as it was only mike sable and myself and no one to take shots. oh well. now i have to get more joiner plates to bolt the rail together. i was going to get some made but im going to price them from atlantic track and turnout in st clair tomorrow. may be cheaper and definantly easier to just buy the right thing.

Don't worry about weight Chris, we have drove a 10 ton Plymouth locomotive without any rail across one of our fields when we unloaded it off the semi truck..

I guess they didn't use rail at the slate quarry either. Just pulled the cars across dirt. But, having rail and doing it the right way is a lot more fun though.

Although it would be interesting seeing a mine locomotive moving without track. Maybe you can adapt the brake wheel into a steering wheel?

There are several limitations you can only go forward once if you go backwards it sinks & also you can not stop. Once you stop it sinks, so keep it hammered down if you want to try this.

Sweet! Your dad should charge admission for visitors to push each other in the mine cars.

wow thats really cool. Its cool that Hudson seems to leave a lot of blueprints and stuff behind for mine cars and tracking. They probably did that for us. 8)

oh yes kids we have good plans ahead! we have enough track left for a nice run, however it would be nice if we could find more 30lb rail somewhere. 40 would be ok but 30 is easier to handle and is adequate for our needs.

It's be interesting if when we get there, the track manages to go around the house.. A nice little RR crossing in the driveway!
