Hey, I think that we need a place for all the railroad related topics under general discussions. It would make it much easier to browse them. What do you think? (I'm not saying that it HAS to happen, I just think it would be nice.)

Well that's good, at least you're not saying it has to happen. There are plenty of forums on the Internet for you railroad foamers. This is a mining forum.

My take on this, and this is ONLY my personal, humble opinion, I think Dave's idea is one worth pursuing as long as the railway stuff is directly mining related. In other words, tracks in the mine, ore cars, coal cars, electric, steam and compressed air "mules", etc. Perhaps even branch line class 1 railroads would be acceptable if those railroads are serving mines.

But as far as discussion of Amtrak, light rail transit, general railroad freight, the age of steam, etc, etc, etc, there are other forums already dedicated to those topics as you suggest.

Those are only my ideas for whatever they're worth.

REgards,
Fred M. Cain
