hmmmm... interesting..

just out of curiosity (becasue i know it'd be more expensive..) i wonder how a golf cart would work too...... It would be a wider gauge. You would have a choice between gas or electric power also depending on the golf cart... i wonder how they would compare as lokies? I don't like golf anyway! :P oh boy.... this is getting out of hand!

Back to the golf cart idea........ The electric ones if you install a shunt circuit you can double the speed now we are talking.

A buddy of ours did this to one of their electric in plant trucks so they could drive it from their shop to McDonalds in the drive thru & back before their boss would notice. On his once the shunting circuit was installed you could not use reverse because it would burn the motor up. It still was very cool.

Been reading the forum for a while, but never made a reply until now.

Converting an electric golf car into a rail vehicle is a great idea. I knew someone who did this for their private railway. Golf carts are light and can be transported in anyone's pickup truck. Here is an article about a person who did this for their railway: http://www.thetwofooters.com/issue003.htm

the other option is to get a trammer locomotive, which are 1-1/2 Tons, like this one:
www.trainweb.org/chris/Poway.html Scroll down for article.

The only thing you need is a trailer to transport it.

One anthracite miner used two for his mine, but two years ago he closed down and claimed he is going to sell it to another person who is starting up a mine. We were trying to buy one from him, let's see what happens if the deal falls through.

Wow! Thats a really interesting site! Cool. If the golf car idea comes to be a reality, i'd want to take most of the frame off and make it look more like a mine motor or diesel loki. Thats cool to see that it's been done before though!

actually... thinking about it... it'd be cool to make it 30 inch gauge and run in on the same rails as the Hudson motor.... assuming we'll have a Hudson motor at some point..

Yup, that's me. Like I said before, a golf cart or heck even a four wheel mobility scooter converted to operate on rails would be easier to transport to most sites. I guess the key here is to engineer something to make it simple to regauge from 30 to 36 inch gauge.

Yeah, that would be neat if it could easily be set for different gauges.
