(...continued) The mine most likely operated from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. From 1920 until sometime in the 1930's, the mine was used by park officials to store explosives. A large stone wall with an iron door was therefore installed. Today, the mine serves as a bat hibernaculum and is no longer accessible.
