This was to be their tool for exiting the industry. As Moffat premium anthracite took ownership of the Moffat breaker on April 1, 1966. Also in April of that year Lehman was sold/leased or co owned by the person with whom its name gained its origin, Frank Lehman of Scranton. From production figures listed in the Dept. of Mines Annual Report, production figures for Moffat and Lehman are nearly identical.
So it can be assumed Lehman only operated the mine as a scrapper. And performed very little mining on his own. This would explain the very existence of Lehman slope. Lehman stands as an oddity in that it was never sealed, considering the fact that Moffat has sealed most of the openings it owned. In April of 1966 Moffat closed Lehman 179 Slope along with every other deep mines it operated by the end of 1966.
