(...continued) It is believed that the Tom Swift Mine was first opened just prior to World War II. The mine consists of an adit driven more than 1500 feet in a generally straight course. This tunnel crosscuts through numerous quartz veins. It appears no attempt was made to mine from any of the veins. In November 2011, the mine was re-located by IronMiners.
