The firebox end of an old retort, which appears to be the first one built on this site.
The chute which fed the concentrator.
Here's how it appears to work: The ore is fed onto the top of the wide flange beam which is heated from beow. The mercury is vaporized , rises, and is captured in the chamber on top to be condensed.
The footings of the later more modern mill/ concentrator built here.
The collapsed stacks of the retort.
A simple concentrator. Ore is stirred as heat is applied from below, the mercury precipitates out to the low side.
Ore is heated as it passed through the turning tube. The vapor is condensed in the stacks and precipitates out into a large tray underneath.
This concentrator appears to have been operated into the 50's.
