Hi,
Some recent mining and mining related books have been added to my library and my have a home in yours.
Garrigues House (publishing arm of Rails n Shafts) in Laurys Station,PA has released a book on breakers and railroads in the westen middle field. It is an attempt to chroical every breakert out there. Included is some detail on mining in techniques in that field. Haven't read enough to say if it will please a real miner.
Also from the same publisher is a hardcover edition of Fischer's "Only Yesterday on the Lehigh & New England. This is THE book on the LNE RR but also has details on LNC mining.
Morning Sun gives us two new books on a-coal railroads with plenty of breaker shots and opertional notes.
First up is "Lehigh Valley Facilities Vol 2" by legendary railroader mike Bednar. Lots of shots around Hazelton. Covers the LV from Allentown to Sayre.
Next is the "Lackawanna RR Facilities Scranton to Buffalo" includes Scranton and the branches into West Pittston and Kingston. A little light on coal, but worthy.
