I finally got the dvd HARD COAL - i really enjoyed seeing the way the small mines worked similar, but more advanced methods than Ive seen used, its a great and sad dvd, ud think the Govt would promote small family business for employment! They deserve help to keep going Not closure in my opinion! ,its been a few years since it was filmed, anyone know if the miners resisted the closures and are any of the mines or miners featured still working?Got the fb now finally too, coalminingmanbob@hotmail.com if nay one has contacts! Cheers and have a good shift in the hole! Bob

Most of the holes on that film have closed for various reasons, however several new mines have been sunk since then as well and as understand it the alphabet people have eased up a bit.....

7 mines running here right now.. 3 of which were on that film.. there were a couple that opted out of being filmed because of the gov. still trying.. theres 2 more supposed to open shortly and a few that are up in the air if they will go back to work.

Hey guys Im delighted to hear that! It was heartbreaking watching the dvd it was so simliar to how I worked in small mines back home from age of not quite 16! but unlike you boys In Britain the big problem was the mines couldnt get lads to go down and work them, it was great seing young men working damn hard, they wouldnt do that back home, theyd rather sit at home on benefit, so they closed, with the recent disater inspections have toughned up and its dying out fast, a real shame I loved my time underground and am desperate to go back down, but In Britain its basiclly finished, trying for Canada just now...
I got the dvd direct from a very helpful man on the team, is anyone else looking for one and I will send his email to you? cheers Boys- stay safe in the hole !
