News on the Sillyman Shaft headframe that was located in Mahanoy City, PA!
The Pioneer Mine and Museum in Ashland, PA
http://www.pioneertunnel.com obtained funding in Fall of 2016 to rebuild the headframe and hoist drums on their property and the project is now underway. The progress is documented below and I'll update as it goes along.
The Sillyman Headframe is probably one of the last structures of its kind in our area, and is an important piece of our anthracite history. When it is open to the public, be sure to come and check it out....

File comment: The footers were poured before Christmas. and are covered with plastic (the grey mounds) to facilitate curing.

File comment: In the meantime the a-frame sides of the structure are being assembled on the ground. The entire structure is to be assembled and raised next week.
