Has anyone been in any southwestern Colorado silver or gold mines near Silvertoon Colorado? The old town of Silverton looks very nice. I saw a few abandoned silver mines in the Rockies up there. Just a hair under 10,000 feet.

As I understand it, the snow and the freeze-thaw cycle is hell on mines up there. I've dealt with a freeze-thaw-degraded inclined shaft in Missouri; that was not a safe opening to say the least. Be careful.

I have not set foot in Colorado. Heights and I do not agree!

Hahahaha, ya, they get 16 feet of snow a year up there they told me, sometimes 20. I'm going to get into some of the silver mines for sure up there on day hopefully, they have cool gold and silver tours, one tour says the vertical head-frame takes you down vertically over 1,000 feet! The freeze thaw here in Pennsylvania makes for some serious issues at the entrance to say about 50 yards or so into the mine. One year a massive piece of rock fell and missed me by 15 feet or so due to ice thawing in the roof, scariest thing to happen in a mine for me. The timing on it was insane! Tommy knockers! Heh.
