I was out scouting for an old mine and ran across this buried by a creek. The area where I found the mill had no record of a mine or mill site that I could find. Ran out of time, so next trip I'll do some further investigation and try to find all the parts.

There was another 5 stamp battery buried and it looks like the camshaft has 10 cams. The stamps and camshaft are still buried somewhat and need to be dug out.

Wow! nice find, you must have got goosebumps when you spotted that, do you think there was an undocumented mill at this site or where these pieces transported from somewhere else and just left where you found them?

Took most of the day to uncover the battery and come along it upright. I would hate to guess on the weight of just the battery. Digging the camshaft out will take a lot more work.

I found the remains of what look to be the old foundation where it was set up on the edge of the creek. Appears it was water powered from what I could tell. No documentation on a mill in that vicinity, especially a 10 stamp. Next trip I'll have to poke around for signs of old dumps or, hopefully, an open tunnel on the steep hillside.
