The Ferromonte Historical Society of Mine Hill will hold an archaeology hike entitled "A Walking Tour of the Ferro Monte Railroad" on Sunday, April 11 at 10:00 AM. Led by railroad and mining historian Dr. Anthony Troha, the all-day tour will follow the right-of-way of the rail line and visit the sites of many of the iron mines that it served, including the famous Dickerson Mine. The walk is about five miles in length, along paved streets and over uneven terrain on the wooded ex-mining property, so participants are advised to wear hiking shoes and to bring a small lunch. The tour is free, but participation is limited, so pre-registration is required. Copies of the 60-page tour booklet will be available for $6.00 each. Contact the Society at
