Hello, I joined this forum to get some help with a vintage mining lantern which belonged to my grandfather. I do not know much about his career since he passed when I was young, but I know this was his personal lantern and that once the wick ran out he stored it on a hook in the attic. That leads me to my question: How do I replace the wick? I read that this thing used a 1/4" wick, but I am unsure about how to change it. It seems like the only option is to pull the old one out with a pair of pliers, but I don't want to mess anything up.

Any help in getting this thing back working would be helpful. It would mean a lot to my family to know this thing works again.
