All I know is it's right on the trail up to Napoleon Pass from the ghost town of TinCup. The land is owned by I guess the guy mining there, but allows off roaders to pass through. The lettering on the blue tarp states "Pine Martiz N Prospecting Co." Where his mine is I haven't a clue.
The picture that shows the hole, I would guess and say it is not worked.
2007 was my 1st time there (Taylor Park Colorado), and I seen a few mine holes. Some at elevations 1 would think, Why dig here??? Not to go off topic, but if you are into off roading be it 4x4 Jeeps or Trucks, ATV's RUV's. It'd be worth your drive there. 1900 miles for me 1 way, I am returning again in August of this year.
There is a Gold mine tour where you go underground, I seen that in a search.
This is an old mine site just below the tree line of Cumberland Pass. Remains of a cabin and other structures are also here, But I've seem to have missed taking there pictures.
