i love that porter at steamtown, it would be great to do a running resto on that and take it for a little toodle down the track.

Chris, GE records show it was sent to Moffatt Coal Company. I believe it was originally built for Glen Alden Coal in 1905, but later operated for Moffatt.

Industrial Rail Ray has a phenomenal data base and what's even more amazing is these records were created and maintained long before computers or any semblance of a modern office

Well I am back finally off the road. That is an old one alrights the vertical brake wheel gives it away as well as the builders plate.

Nice shots Chris

i like those vertical brake wheels. They seem like they'd be easier to use being that they're higher.

Well here is one that I don't think anyone has ran across:

Image

Mancha took their 1-1/2, 4 & 5 ton storage battery locomotive & made them gas electrics. (SMALL GAS ELECTRICS)

Old Jeffrey turtle back mine locomotive. Check out the gas operated headlight that dates it.

Well after reviewing this thread I realized that most of the locmotives pictured were at museums or scrap yards.

So we decided to post a few showing mine locomotives still in service at mines doing the job they were built for (HAULING COAL or working at the mine).

Great picture with a Greensburg Storage Battery in service.
