I had the day off. So I took the chance to do some exploration and play with a GPS I got for my birthday.
These are old workings, most likely from the early 1900's. Probably, were not commercial, just digging coal for the home fires.
And yes I did find bits of coal, but no outcroppings at this site.
This hole was about 6 foot deep. I thought about digging around a bit , but resisted jumping in without know what was on the bottom beside leaves.
Farther west there are more workings that were more extensive and had an outcrop. My camera just died at the wrong time.
