You'd be surprised where gold can be found sometimes. I have a real gold panning opportunity just a couple miles from my house. I plan to give it a try this spring.

Dude........ haha! That might just be the info i've been needing (or lead to it!) My parents live (and I grew up) in the heart of wyoming county... right beside the mighty susquehanna. 8) :D

I can't remember the web site, nor find it, it's on my home computer. But some guys were pulling it out of the Susquehanna somewhere near the Forty Fort airport. I'll have to try and find the site. I have a pan set, and after about an hour I got a very small piece out of the river behind my house in NY. Fun, but not worth the effort.

I'm thinking up by the barn would work. The front yard is a bit small.

Panning for gold is fun and all, but this would be one heck of a mine to pan! But as we have seen even with Gold Rush Alaska, you really need a lot of material and the proper means to make profit.

Plus it helps knowing what you are doing!

Ya, it helps a ton to know where to look, about black sand, and using the pans. There are a lot of helpful videos on youtube that would be of some use to those of you who want to try your hand at it. I only went out once or twice down my river bank and I knew I'd probably find either nothing or a small flake which I did, so you aren't going to get rich from it, at least not in NY or PA. More of just the hunt and to do something fun and relaxing outdoors.
