If anyone wants to post mining related photos on the IM forum, feel free to do so within the appropriate photo board.

There has been some question as to "how" to post pictures.

My general procedure is to resize the original image to 25% using Paint (open the photo in Paint, and hit "Stretch / Skew" under the "Image" menu at the top). When you resize the image, make sure both the Horizontal and Vertical % fields read "25." Make sure you "save as" the photo instead of simply "save" or you will alter the original photo. "Save as" will provide a new, resized copy.

Then, go to a website such as www.imageshack.us , click browse, find your photo, and Host it. When you "host" the image on Imageshack, make sure you copy the "Hotlink for Forums (1)" (Directly under the add in the middle of the page.)

Take what you've copied from the "Hotlink for Forums (1)" box and paste it in the text box of your post on IronMiners.

Good one Banks! The other option is to use something like www.webshots.com. This image sharing site works great as it allows you to upload a large sized picture and it will auto-shrink the picture so that it could be used in a forum such as ours here. I would recommend posting images 800x600 in size as this will keep the image large enough for people to view and it won't be too large for people with low resolution screens.

To link to the forum with webshots:

Sign up with an account
Post up your image
Then view your photo album.
Select the link 'link to it'
Select size 600
Then copy the URL "Direct Link to Image" (Control C will work)

Next go to the forum.

Click the IMG button
Paste the URL
Then click on the button again (it will say *Img) to end the link.

Then if you hit the Preview Button at the bottom, you can verify that it works.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, with the new Forum upgrade we have also added the ability to attach photos to the message. While you can certainly use a third party company to host your images, the forum now allows you to host the images from here directly. Just attach your images to the post.
