Miner CT Mike snowshoes across the large mine tailings leading up to the mine.
The icicle filled stoped mine adit.
Once inside the mine researchers quickly strap on their mine appropriate gear.
For the first 100 feet the adit is stoped out. After this point the mine is reduced to a standard sized tunnel.
The tunnel continues completely ice covered for perhaps another 100 feet.
An icicle formation on the left leads from a small stope.
Next, the IronMiners encover a large deep ice covered stope with an intact winch!
Miner CT Mike poses by the winch used to raise and lower ore.
Looking back, the enormity of the stope can be appreciated. Now imagine this scene in operation and what the depth of the stope might have been.
Just as the IronMiners catch their breath after discovering the winch, an intact ORE CAR greets them!
Past this point, the mine researchers climb the ice covered stopes.
