Group,
Well, group, it’s been a while since I last posted anything on “Mines With Tracks” so I can’t remember if I shared this article or not from 2016. It reads fairly upbeat:
https://www.e-mj.com/features/opportuni ... perations/And here is another promising article but I have not been able to open and access it without an account. Can anybody access this article? It might make an interesting read. If you can open it, or if you have an account with this group, I’d love to have you share it.
https://mining-report.de/english/advant ... perations/Also, I had contacted a mining equipment company and asked them
WHY no mining companies were using rail haulage anymore. His response went something like, “There are lots of mines still using rail and more planned”. So the rumors of death for mines with tracks have been greatly exaggerated. At one time,
ALL mines of any size used rail haulage and that isn’t the case anymore but there are many that still do. It all depends on what their transportation needs are.
Last but not least is the case of the old underground Magma Mine at Superior, AZ. The plan was to reopen it and rechristen it the “Resolution Mine”. It goes down a staggering 7,000 feet. If you look at the website done by Bloomberg, there is a video on there. Near the end of the video it shows some guys walking underground and tracks, mining locomotives and cars can be clearly seen. In all appearances, they look new. But what I don’t know is how well this whole project succeeded. Is the Resolution Mine Operating? Does anybody know?
Here is the URL for the Resolution Mine:
