We at IronMiners are proud to present our newest slideshow, the Old Mine of the Chester Emery group of mines. This is one of our most recent adventures and a true gem of a mine. While overall, we only explored a limited portion of the mine, the slideshow should provide an adequate glimpse into this historic and important operation. Please enjoy and watch out for winzes!

Nice job with the slideshow Mike and Greg!! you can really get the feel for how far the workings meander into the mountian through this slideshow, and discovering the full trackage and spare rails at the end is still very exiting for me to see! Many more Massachusetts mines to come in the future too.

Yeah, this was a pretty long slide show and we didn't even finish exploring this mine! We've got more to see in the lower levels of this mine and there are also other known mines which are part of the group of Chester Emery Mines. We also wanted to note to our viewers that the actual name of the mine is not the Chester Emery Mine and that it was actually called the Old Mine.

But that was a great trip, an awesome mine to see, and another mine to be put in our top 10 list of favorite mines.

Unlike past missions, this one only took one day to explore and photograph and another to process all the images and build the slideshow. It is still a lot of work but we are becoming more streamlined with the process. However, the slideshow couldn't have been made possible without all the Iron Miners involved.

Another thing I should point out is that the mine totally fit in with the scene of the New England country up there. Even the miner's chapel was still standing in great shape! The area looks pretty much the same as I would think it would look if the mine were still in operation -- only there are paved roads and more modern forms of transportation. Special thanks to the CT Iron Miners for discovering this one.

OK kids, let's get this straight, When I talk about rocks, I'm not talking about THOSE types of rocks....

Any one up for a trip up to the rosendale cement mines? I just talked to someone yesterday that was there in the spring and he said the complex is amazing tons of passageways levels and shafts. he said it will take several days to explore the mine!

Thats funny, why do you think they would have underground passageways for cement mining? Usually aggregate mining is all done by strip mining methods..
