yes they just completed the fence so that people dont go riding down the path at night that leads directly to the trench! also, if you guys want to go up there to see it, let me know i can take you without having to worry about the po-po as we are doing some work for them.

The final days of Centralia may be near, a contractor I know with a friend in Harrisburg has been tipped to start preparing a bid for demo of the final buildings . I am skeptical although there are Coal Companies seemingly poised all around the site and a lot of recent activity on the Snake Road behind Centralia

this is interesting.... i havent heard of that, although like you said it will be a mad dash to get the coal stripped out of there. theres still alot in there. lets start a new topic on this though so we focus on olyphant on this one.

Anyone have any more recent news on whats going on at the mine fire? I want to go up there sometime soon and get some pictures of the dragline and stuff, I just saw the boom from the casey highway the other day for the first time, I never knew there was a mine fire up there before...

the project is almost complete. if you want to get the pics of the drag better do it soon, they are going to be packing up soon. we have one more aerial photography trip to do as soon as we have a nice day during the week.

they are pulling equipment out so they are in their final days up there. there were 2 or 3 haul trucks moving material around but there used to be 20 of them there! heres an overview of the site with rt 6 and the valley in the background.
